TCF Canada writing topics for November 2026: 9 practice tasks
These are 9 TCF Canada writing topics to practise in November 2026, 3 for each task. They are our own practice tasks, not the real exam topics, which we have not found published anywhere official. Write one every two or three days, keep to the word range, and check your text.
How to use these topics
The writing test has 3 tasks in 60 minutes. Task 1 is a message of 60 to 120 words, Task 2 is a report or story of 120 to 150 words, and Task 3 is a comparative text of 120 to 180 words (opinion on two points of view).

Pick one topic, set a timer (our suggestion: about 10 minutes for Task 1, 20 for Task 2, 25 for Task 3 and 5 to reread) and write without a dictionary. Then paste your text in the checker. In the checker, tap "Another topic" until you see the same topic, or tap "My own topic" and paste the instruction, so your text is checked against the right task. For a full run of all 3 tasks in 60 minutes, use the writing mock exam. Why we do not promise exam topics: see TCF Canada writing predictions.
Task 1: three messages (60 to 120 words)

Task 2: three reports or stories (120 to 150 words)

Task 3: three comparative texts (120 to 180 words)
For each theme, read the two points of view and give your own opinion with reasons.
- Le télétravail. Document 1: it saves time, reduces stress and helps employees focus. Document 2: it can make people feel lonely and weaken team spirit.
- Les devoirs à la maison. Document 1: homework helps pupils review and become independent. Document 2: it creates inequalities and tires children.
- L'intelligence artificielle au travail. Document 1: it frees workers from repetitive tasks. Document 2: it creates fear of job loss and can make mistakes.
The short English notes above only give you the idea. To read the full French documents, open the Task 3 checker and tap "Another topic" until you see the theme. When your text is ready, check my Task 3 text. More on the task: Task 3 guide.
A model answer for Task 1, topic 1
This is our own answer, about 75 words. It answers every part of the instruction: welcome, hours, lunch and transport.
Bonjour Karim,
Bienvenue dans l'équipe ! Je suis ravie que tu arrives lundi. Voici quelques informations pratiques.
Si tu as une question, écris-moi. À lundi !
Sophie
- Tone: "tu" is fine between colleagues, and the message stays friendly and clear.
- Structure: greeting, welcome, practical points in the order of the instruction, closing.
- What to copy: the order and the linking words ("mais", "et"). Do not copy the sentences: write about your own situation.
What score are you aiming for?
IRCC converts your writing score (out of 20) to an NCLC level:
| NCLC level | Writing score (out of 20) |
|---|---|
| 7 | 10-11 |
| 8 | 12-13 |
| 9 | 14-15 |
| 10 and above | 16-20 |

How many words do I write for each TCF Canada task?
60 to 120 words in Task 1, 120 to 150 in Task 2 and 120 to 180 in Task 3. The three tasks share 60 minutes.
