TCF Canada writing predictions 2026: what you can really predict
We found no official TCF Canada writing predictions: the test centre page we checked describes the tasks but does not publish topics before the exam. What you can predict is the format: 3 tasks in 60 minutes, with 60 to 120, 120 to 150 and 120 to 180 words. Prepare for the format and for common everyday themes, not for one exact topic.
Why exact predictions do not work
Many websites and groups share lists of "topics for the next exam". Be careful. The Alliance Française de Philadelphie page for TCF Canada describes the three tasks, but it does not say which topics will come or how they are chosen. We know of no official source that gives the topics in advance.
If you learn a text for one predicted topic and a different one appears, you lose time and points. Your text must answer the instruction of the day. A safer plan is to prepare for what never changes.

What you can predict: the format
| Task | What you write | Words | Guide |
|---|---|---|---|
| Task 1 | A message to describe, explain or tell something to specific people | 60-120 | Task 1 guide |
| Task 2 | A report or story with comments or arguments | 120-150 | Task 2 guide |
| Task 3 | A comparative text: your opinion on two points of view from documents | 120-180 | Task 3 guide |
All three tasks share one timer of 60 minutes. See the full overview of TCF Canada writing tasks for time planning.
Themes worth practising
This list is our own idea of everyday themes. It is not taken from the exam, and it is not a promise that they will appear. Use it to build vocabulary that you can reuse in many situations.
- Work and study: a new job, a course, working from home.
- Daily life: housing, transport, shopping, neighbours.
- Travel and leisure: a trip, a festival, a sport, a hobby.
- Health and environment: healthy habits, recycling, city life or country life.
- Technology and society: social media, online learning, young people and older people.
For each theme, write down 10 useful words and 3 opinion sentences, for example "À mon avis, le télétravail est utile parce que...". These sentences work in many Task 3 texts.
A 2-week writing routine
- Days 1 to 3: read the three task guides and the writing template. Learn the order of ideas, not a full text.
- Days 4 to 10: write one task a day. Change the theme every day and keep to the word range.
- Days 11 to 13: write all 3 tasks in 60 minutes with a timer. The writing mock exam does this for you.
- Day 14: reread your corrected texts and your list of mistakes. Do not start new topics.

Your results must be less than 2 years old when you complete your Express Entry profile and when you apply for permanent residence. Other skills use other scales: see the TCF Canada score chart.
Common mistakes with predicted topics
- Writing a learned text that does not answer the instruction.
- Practising only one topic and having no words for another.
- Skipping a part of the instruction because it was not in the prepared text.
- Never getting a text corrected, so the same errors come back.
Write on different themes and get each text corrected. Then you will be better prepared for any topic, predicted or not.
Practise on any topic and get feedback
Write on one of the themes above, paste your text and get a score out of 20, your NCLC level and every mistake explained in English, Português, हिंदी or ਪੰਜਾਬੀ. 5 free checks a day, no sign-up.

Are there official TCF Canada writing predictions for 2026?
We found none. The test centre page we checked describes the 3 tasks and word ranges but does not list topics in advance. Be careful with lists that claim to know the next topics.
What can I predict about the TCF Canada writing test?
The format: 3 tasks in 60 minutes, with 60 to 120 words in Task 1, 120 to 150 in Task 2 and 120 to 180 in Task 3.
Should I learn a text by heart for the writing test?
It is risky. Your text must answer the instruction of the day. Learn a frame, useful words and opinion sentences, and write your own text.
What writing score do I need for NCLC 7?
On the IRCC table for TCF Canada, NCLC 7 is a writing score of 10 to 11 out of 20 and NCLC 8 is 12 to 13.
How can I practise for different topics?
Write one task a day on a different theme, keep to the word range, and get every text corrected. Then rewrite the sentences with mistakes.
